Albert was born at Marton.
He married Amy Unsworth (born at Crewe, England in 1869) in 1887. (She appears on the marriage BDM listing as Amy Ryley.)
They had 2 sons & 4 daughters.
One son, John & one son-in-law, James Champion, served in WW1. As they both served in the same company it is possible they knew each other.
Albert was a labourer in Wainuiomata and cam to Levin around 1893. He then moved on to Carterton around 1908, then Hihitahi & finally Raetihi as a mill hand.
He appears on the 1905 unofficial census for the Levin township petition as a labourer with 8 people & 2 buildings.
