Archibald was born at Goring, Oxfordshire, England.
He married Mary Caner (born in 1872) in 1893.
They had three daughters & one son. The son, Harold, served in WW1, being wounded at Gallopoli. He also served in WW2.
Archibald & Mary owned quite a lot of property around Levin.
He was a police constable in 1890 at Dunedin & then at Herbertville till at least 1900. By 1901 he is in Levin as a constable.
He then went farming around 1911. After he died his widow moved to Palmerston Nth.
