Arthur was born at Oxford, near Christchurch.
He married Ada Cole (nee Henderson) (born at Greytown in 1875) at Levin in 1916.
Her first husband Joseph Cole died in 1911. At that stage she had six daughters & two sons, all under the age of 10.
Arthur & Ada had two sons.
Three step son-in-laws, Harold Jepson, Thomas Gee & Alfred Fogden, served in WW1. One step son, Huia Cole, served in WW2.
In 1911 Arthur was a farmer at Koputaroa. By 1928 he is farming at Otaki, where they both lived for the rest of their lives.
