Arthur was born at Taita, Lower Hutt.
He married Sarah Jones (born at Pauatahanui in 1866) at Pauatahanui in 1886.
They had 10 daughters & 5 sons over an 18 year period. One girl died at infancy.
Two of the daughters, Sarah & Ethel, married twin brothers Victor & Leonard McGhie.
One son, Sam, & one son-in law, Howard Kemp served in WW1.
One son, Joseph, & two son-in-laws, William Phillips & William Healy, served in WW2.
Arthur was a farmer, firstly at Taita from at least 1890 to early 1900's, then at Ohau for the rest of his life.
Sarah continued to live at Ohau after his death.
