Charles was born in Otaki.
He married Ellen Judd (born in Wellington in 1885) in a double wedding (two sisters) at Otaki in 1913.
They had two daughters & one son. The son, Frederick Jnr, served in WW2.
Charles started out as a bank clerk in Otaki in 1905. He then moved to Wellington where he became an accountant.
By 1919 he was back at Weraroa as a dairy farmer. In 1946 they are shown as living in Queenwood Rd, Levin. By 1957 the widow Ellen is at 135 Queenwood Rd, later becoming 61 Queenwood Rd.
