Charles Joseph Leonard CARMONT
Charles was born at Otaki.
He married Marea Knocks (born at Otaki in 1877) at Otaki in 1896.
They had 11 children between 1896 & 1915.
One died at infancy & two very young (5 & 9).
Marea died in 1925 and Charles remarried a widow Mary Fisher (nee Taylor) in 1927.
In 1911 Charles had an order made against him, in Court, for the support of his wife, now an invalid, and four children. This action was sought by his father-in-law, Alfred Knocks.
One son-in-law, William Barlow, served in WW2.
In the electoral rolls, Charles is shown as a horse trainer in Levin in the 1905 & 1911 rolls. He then moves to the Waikato region as a farmer, horse trainer & farmer again, finally retiring in 1954 to Puru.
