David was born at Brchin, Scotland.
he married Isabella Mitchell (born at Arbroath, Scotland in c 1855) at Wanganui in 1876.
They had 3 sons & 6 daughters.
David was a carpenter, starting in Wanganui, then Oamaru, before settling in Levin around 1896. Around 1925 he became a land agent.
The family owned property, especially in Trafalagar St, Levin.
He signed the 1905 Levin township petition as a carpenter. The family is also on the unofficial census of the same year with 6 people & 2 buildings.
Both David & Isabella & one daughter are buried in Levin.
