Edwin was born in Staffordshire, England.
He came to NZ in 1870 (aged 48).
He married Emma Aldridge (nee Butler) (born at Berkshire, England in 1843) at Palmerston Nth in 1877. Edwin was 21 years older than Emma.
They had our daughters & one son. The son died in infancy. When Edwin (a carpenter by trade) died the children's ages ran from 15 to 3.
As a consequence Emma became a boarding house keeper, firstly in Palmerston Nth & then Levin from at least 1900.
One son-in-law, Harry Atkins served in the Boer war.
