Egbert was born at Longburn near Palmerston Nth.
He married Emily Freeman (born at Rangitikei in 1886) at Palmerston Nth in 1908.
They had one daughter, who died very young, & one son.
Egbert started as a farmer at Linton then Palmerston Nth. he was in Levin as a labourer by 1919 & then became a butcher until he retired.
He lived at 48 York St (now 27 & 29 York St).
His son & his wife, lived next door & moved in with him after Emily died.
