Ernest Ambrose ALLAWAY
Ernest was born in Christchurch.
He married Winifred Perry (born in Invercargill) in 1905.
They had two children, both born in Levin. The eldest, Basil (named after the 1st Mayor of Levin), was killed in 1944 at Casino, Italy in WW2.
Ernest started as a grocer in Levin by 1905, moving to Wellington in 1911, where he stayed till retiring to Napier by 1954.
He signed the "yes" petition in the 1905 Levin township petition.
His 1st wife died in 1953 & he remarried Millicent Richards in 1956.
