Ernest was born at Rangitkei.

He married Mary Adams (born At Dunedin in 1880) at Petone in 1905.

They had two daughters & one son.

Around 1928 Ernest partnered with Elsie Audrey Turner - who was only two years older than his oldest daughter. A marriage cannot be found for them.

They had no children.

Ernest was a furniture dealer in Christchurch in 1911, then in Hamilton. By 1919 to 1928 he was a farmer in Lower Hutt & Wainuiomata. In 1928 he was also in Auckland as a manager, where he met Elsie. He then moved to Palmerston Nth as a sales manager before moving back to Christchurch by 1949.

At some stage they were in Levin as the two eldest children were born there in 1906 & 1908.

Mary lived in Welllington until at least 1946 where she disappears until her death is recorded.
