Frederick was born at St John Wood, London, England.
He married Mary (born in Australia in 1854). The date of the marriage is unknown.
They had one son. He was killed in a trucking accident at Tuakau railway station. He was only 31 years old.
Frederick was a clerk in Wellington and Petone from at least 1880 to 1905, when he became a Railways audit inspector.
He then tried his hand at farming at Onewhero before becoming a gentleman at Parnell for the rest of his life.
Frederick owned four sections in Levin (in Town Blocks 4 & 6) from 1889 to 1919.
