Frederick was born at Christchurch.
he married Clara Williams (born at Temuka in 1886) at Levin in 1911.
They had three sons & one daughter. One son died in infancy. The first two were born in Levin.
Both other sons, Frederick & Ronald & son-in-law Godfrey Roche served in WW2. Daughter-in-law, Christina, was a WAAF at Wigram.
Frederick was a jeweller & watchmaker by trade.
He opened a business in Oxford St, Levin in 1909, selling the business in 1915 to return to Christchurch.to become an optician.
