George BURNHAM

George was possibly born in England.

He came to NZ from the UK, leaving there in March 1892.

In December 1892 he married Ida Leumann (born in 1863).

They had two girls, neither of whom married.

George started out as carpenter in Petone & Rongotea before moving to Levin by1905.

By 1911 he had moved to Wellington to try his hand at being a grocer. However he was back working as a carpenter by 1928. In 1938 he had retired and was living at the Home of Compassion in Silverstream, Upper Hutt.

George signed the "Yes" petition in the 1905 Levin township petition.
