George was born at Great Steeping, Lincolnshire, England.
He married Mary Cheffings (born at Sloothly, Lincolnshire, England in 1828) at Spilsby, Lincolnshire, England in 1853.
They had two sons, both born in Lincolnshire.
The family emigrated to NZ, the year is not known. However it was between 1857 (when the youngest child was born) & 1880 as from the electoral rolls Charles was a settler at Karere from 1880 to 1896.
