George Melville BURLINSON

George was born in Kent, England.

He married Alicia Jackson (born at Birmingham, England in 1865) at Taupiri in 1884.

They had five sons and one daughter.

George van der Graaf served in WW1 and died of dsease in Egypt in 1915.

James served with the AIF, Maurice with the Canadians and Robert with NZ all in WW1.

Frank served with Australia in WW2.

George is shown as a freeholder on the Douglas block in the Manawatu 1880 to 1890.

In the early 1890's he is a teacher in the Auckland region.

By 1896 he is the Manager of the Industrial School at Caversham in Dunedin.

By 1911 he is a Civil Servant at the Boy's Industrial Farm at Weraroa.

He retired to Auckland by 1919.
