George was born in Watchfield, berkshire, England.
He married his 1st wife Ellen Le Gros (born in same place in 1866) in 1890.
They had five children.
At some stage he left Ellen and partnered with Fanny Horton who was married to Arthur Halmshaw. They had one daughter.
George & Fanny emigrated to NZ in Aug 1922, arriving in Auckland. They travelled as man & wife although not married.
They did get married in 1936, the same year George died.
There is a chance that Fanny was the woman who owned a sweet shop on the east side of Oxford St.
