Henry was born in England.
He married Gertrude Philburn (born at Worcetershire, England in 1883) in 1909.
The Philburn family arrived in NZ in 1904.
They had one son.
Henry was a baker by trade. He started at Napier, moved to Pahiatua then Longburn before moving to Levin around 1918.
He ran a bakery in Oxford St, taking over from J W Scott. He moved to Queen St around 1935 and also ran one on the corner of Devon & Oxford St which he sold to Arcadia Bakery in 1934. The family moved temporarily to Rongotea in 1938 but then came back to Levin.
He spent his retirement playing golf & bowls.
