Herbert Edward KEYS
Herbert was born at Featherston, the 3rd child of 15.
He married Agnes Akenson (born at Upper Hutt in 1883) at Levin in 1903.
They had three sons & one daughter. Two sons & the daughter became teachers & the other son a journalist.
One son, Charles, served as a medic in WW2.
He started out as a labourer in Featherston, then for a short while, became a Presbyterian student. By 1901 he is a in Levin as a storekeeper (grocer & greengrocer). He finally retired from the business in 1938 and moved to Christchurch, where at least two of his children were living.
