Howard HARVEY

Howard was born in Liskeard, Cornwall, England.

He married Edith Batton (born in Cornwall in 1882) at Edgbaston in 1908.

They both emigrated to NZ in 1909, landing at Christchurch (along with brother Josiah - see separate profile) where the eldest child was born.

They had five sons & three daughters with all but the first born in Levin.

Howard had moved to Levin in 1911. He was a cabinet maker by trade. He set up a business called Harvey & Co which operated out of the back of Oxford St, with a frontage on Chamberlain St.

Four of the sons followed their father's trade, however two later became funeral directors.

One son, Byron, served with the RAF in WW2, and one son, Joffre, served in the NZ forces in WW2.
