Johann, known locally, as Fred was born in Sweden.
He married Jane Turner (nee Gardiner) (born at London in 1847) in 1905.
Her first marriage was to Edward Turner in England in 1871. They had two sons & a daughter before emigrating to NZ, arriving in Wellington in Mar 1874.
They moved to Feilding where they had 5 more daughters & two sons. This included two sets of twins. The first set of twins died in infancy.
When Fred & Jane married they moved to Levin, living in Salisbury St. Fred was a labourer.
Jane's death notice was recorded in the Horowhenua Chronicle on 19 Jun 1928.
