John BAGRIE

John was born at Arthurton in the Clutha area.
He married Jane Mill (born in Invercargill) in Christchurch in 1902.
They had three children. Descendants still live in the Levin area.
John joined the Police in 1900, based in Lyttelton.
Around 1908 he moved to Levin as sole constable. He retired in Sep 1933 with the intention of playing a lot more bowls. He & Jane bought a house in Durham St so that he would have just a short walk to the Levin Bowling Club.
Unfortunately his bowls life was short as he died, less than 18 months after retiring, after a long illness.
