John Campbell BURNS

John was born at Riverton.

He married Nora Shove (born at Greenwich, London, England in 1879) in 1901.

They had five children, one of whom died at birth.

John was a teacher and was shown in the electoral rolls of 1905 as being in Levin.

By 1911 he is a schoolmaster in Wellington moving to Petone by 1928.

One son, Stuart owned a Pharmacy in Petone which was also run by a grandson.

One son-in-law, Edward Thompson, served in the NZ Dental Corp in WW2. Another son-in-law, John McVay, was killed on air operations for the RAF, also during WW2.
