John William DAVIES
It is not known where John was born.
He married Josephine (Maude) Kirk (born in 1867) in 1904.
They had no children.
John started his working life as a chemist in Lyttelton.
He then went to the Boer War in 1902 as a Quartermaster-Sergeant returning to get married.
He went farming at Tawhala Vly then became the hotelkeeper at the Albion Hotel in Shannon by 1914. From there he moved to the Manakau Hotel by 1916 until it burned down in 1919.
