John Wright GOWER

John was born at Burgh, Norfolk, England.
He came to NZ in 1858.
He married Mary Gapper (born at East Lombrook, England in 1834) at Nelson in 1861.
They had three sons & three daughters.
When Mary died he remarried a widow Elizabeth Staples (nee Heays).
John started in Riwaka & moved to Foxton around 1890 as a farmer. He also farmed in Levin. Around 1905 he moved to Hastings as a settler.
John was a Councillor & later Mayor of Foxton. He was also a member & Chairman of Manawatu County Council.
