Lawrence was born in Lerwick, Shetlands.
He married Agnes Jamieson (also from the Shetlands) in London 1877.
He immigrated along with his wife, brother Peter (Snr) (see his profile) & parents, in the 1875 on the ship "Avalanche"..
he returned to England to get married and then they both came out again.
They had five children, born in Wellington, Masterton & Otaki.
In 1880, Lawrence was in Masterton, as a carpenter. By 1896 he was at Ohau, still as a carpenter.
He retired to Wellington around 1928.
