Peter was born in Muiravonside, Stirlingshire, Scotland.
He came to NZ via Queensland.
He married Emily Roe (born in Wellington) in Feilding in 1880.
They had 10 children, of whom one died in infancy. His wife died one day after giving birth to their youngest child, Margaret.
Four sons, Ivo, Frederick, Cyril & Thomas all served in WW1.
Peter was working at a sawmill plant in Foxton in 1870. By 1875 through to 1876 he was shown as a settler in Feilding & Palmerston Nth.
By 1890 he had his own sawmilling business in Levin, moving it to Weraroa around 1900.
