Rasmus was born in Denmark.
He came to NZ in 1873 with his wife Maran and his son Henry.
He is first shown on electoral rolls in 1875 as a settler at Mauriceville. Then he shown as a carpenter in Shannon by 1890. He then turned his hand to farming at Shannon then Koputaroa.
