Robert was born In County Meath, Ireland.
He came to NZ with the 14th regiment and fought in the NZ Wars.
After the wars he settled in Oamaru, and then moved to Lower Hutt, Masterton, Tokomaru & finally Ohau where he was a farmer.
He married Jane (born 1827 in County Sligo, Ireland) in Oamaru in 1827.
She came to NZ, arriving at Dunedin, travelled to Dunstan, then Tapanui & finally to Oamaru.
They had six children, two of whom died very young. The two boys, James & Robert William set up a livery stable in Oxford St, Levin. It is not known what happened to the two girls, Pat & Jane.
