Robert Ernest LUCAS
Robert was born at Featherston.
He married Frances McGonagle (born at Hawera in 1886) at Wanganui in 1910.
They had one son.
Robert served in the Boer war in 1902 & enlisted in 1916 for WW1. His enlistment was only 2 months after his son was born.
Whilst he was away Frances ran the Booksellers & Stationer shop in Levin.
His son, Samuel served in the RNZAF in WW2.
Robert started his working life as a machinest in Feattherston. He then moved to Wanganui. In 1911 he was a stationer in Waipukurau & and by 1914 till at least 1922 as a stationer in Oxford St Levin.
From 1925 he was a bookseller in Wanganui then moving into farmeing around 1935.
