He married Gwensolyn Raine (born at Wanganui in 1895) at Bulls in 1919.
They had two daughters.
Robert served in WW1. Three son-in-laws, Ken Wright, Gordon Maney & George Bone all served in WW2.
Robert started out as bank officer at Rongotea, then New Plymouth. he retired and then moved to Levin as an Insurance Agent. His wife Gwendolyn took over the running of the Oxford Luncheon & Tea Rooms, upstairs in the "Haswell Building" in Oxford St, from Jan 1927.
