Robert was born at Bulls.
He married Margaret Pilcher (born at Feilding in 1886) at Feilding in 1904.
They had one son & one daughter.
Robert served in both the Boer War & WW1.
From at least 1905 to 1919 he is recorded as being a farmer at Pohangina.
It is also recorded that he bought "Tirvean" in Buller Rd from James Neill in 1921. He farmed, and retired, in Buller Rd for the rest of his life.
