Jim was born at Taieri in Otgao.
He married Ella Williams (born Dunedin in 1902) at Dunedin in 1926.
They had 3 sons.
Jim attended Otago University as a medical student.
By 1925 he had settled in Kent St, Levin as a doctor. He died, suddenly, after lunch an after delivering a baby.
He & Ella were the owners of the house in Kent St which is now known as Thompson House.
Jim served in WW! in the NZ Medical Corp.
He & Ella & 3 other family members are all buried at The Avenue cemetery in Levin.
One son, Graeme worked as an economist for the United nations.
