Thomas Arthur Bertram HUDSON
Thomas was born at Skirlaugh, Yorkshire, England.
His 1st marriage was to Minnie Bowen (born at New Plymouth in 1874) at Levin in 1900.
The Bowen family was one of the pioneer families of Levin.
They had two daughters. She died at the age of 36.
He then married Lilian Husband (born at Hamilton in 1886) in 1916.
They had one son.
Thomas started working life as a draper in Woodville. By 1899 he had moved to Levin as an land & estate agent. At one stage he was also the manager of the Levin Auctioneering Co, at the Central Mart in Levin.
Prior to moving to Levin he appeared in the Police Gazette of 1897 for false pretenses. He was adjudged bankrupt in 1910.
Thomas signed the 1905 "Yes" petition for the Levin township proposal & also appeared on the unofficial census of 1905, described as a land & estate agent with 5 people in total & two buildings.
