Thomas was part of the large Sowman family, born in the Wairau.
He married Sophia Bragge (born at Picton in 1868) in 1886. She died in 1917.
He then married Emily Cresswell (nee Wooller0 in 1918. She died in 1926.
He married for a 3rd time to Ethel Wilson (Nee Chell) in 1937.
Altogether he had 4 sons & 3 daughters. Two of the later daughters died in childbirth.
Thomas was a hairdresser in Wellington. By 1905 he was a hotelkeeper at Ekatahuna, Shanoon, Halcombe & finally Manakau.
By 1922 he is in Hamilton, back to being a hairdresser. He retired to the Coromandel around 1941.
