Thomas was born at Whitemans Valley, near Wainuiomata.
He is the son of Thomas John who is also profiled.
He married Margaret Drinnen (born at Reefton in 1876) at Levin in 1904.
They had two daughters, both born in Levin.
Thomas started as a labourer in Levin around 1900. By 1905 he is a butcher in Ohau. By 1928 he is a butcher living at Mabel St, Levin. After he died his widow, Margaret, lived in Winchester St, then Stuckey St (32A & 37), Levin with her daughter Ivy.
Thomas signed the "Yes" petition in the 1905 Levin township petition.
