Thomas was born in Wellington.
He married Helen Knox (born at Wellington in 1844) at Wellington in 1869.
They had six sons. One died in infancy. Two (Harry & Percival) have also been profiled.
Two sons, Thomas F & Leonard, enlisted together & served in the NZ Engineers Tunnelling Co in WW1.
From 1870 to 1876 Thomas was shown as freehold at Porirua, then to Oakura till the late 1880's. He then became a farmer at Ohau.
