Walter was born in Hastings.
He married Catherine Wall (born in Hastings) in 1911.
They had six sons. One died in infancy & one in his teens.
Two of them (Ivan & Godfrey) were famous for their shearing exploits.
Godfrey lived at 320 (became 570 Queen St) Levin for many years.
Walter was a carpenter, a clerk & then a station manager in the Hastings area up to 1928. He then became a farmer in the Te Puke area.
