Walter was born at Napier.
He married Marjory Ede (born at Napier in 1921) in 1943.
They had 4 sons & 1 daughter.
Walter started out working for his father in his shop in Oxford St.
He then took over from Don Nairn as a photographer in Sep 1954, in the upstairs of the Haswell building (which became the Shaws building) on the west side of Oxford St. He also started a recording studio in the same premises. He also opened the Music centre in Oxford St east which was run by the family for many years.
Walter also played in several bands.
He was a grandson of the original retailer, Walter Mace Clark
