William was born in Levin.
He married Sarah Musgrove (born at Foxton in 1890) at Levin in 1917.
They had three sons & three daughters. All three sons served in WW2.
William was a shepherd later becoming a labourer.
William & Sarah lived in a house built by her father at 119 Bath St, Levin. The house was later shifted to another site. The Bath St site is now part of the Thompson House Reserve.
