William was born at Akaroa.
he married Elizabeth Harrison (born in Tasmania in 1862) in 1881.
They had six children, three of each gender.
William started out as a labourer at Pahiatua in the early 1890's. He then became a farmer at Pahiatua.
By 1905 he was in Levin as a farmer until at least 1919. At some stage after that he moved to Auckland.
In the 1919 electoral roll Elizabeth was shown to be living in Cambridge St, Levin.
