William FINLAYSON

William was born at Bower, Scotland.
He married Frances Housden (born at Dorset, England in 1846) at Wimborne, Dorset in 1874.
They travelled to NZ between Oct 1884 & Feb 1886 (between the births of two of the children.)
They had five sons & four daughters. The first six children were born in England. The last three were born in Dunedin, Christchurch & Wellington. Of the nine children, five never married.
Three sons, William Jnr, John & Ernest served in WW1. Ernest enlisted twice for WW1 (1914 & 1916) & was in temporary service in WW2. John lost a son in WW2.
William was a minister. In 1890 he was in Pukerau, 1900in Christchurch, in 1905 in Levin & then the rest of his time in Wellington.
