He married Margaret Chirnside (born at Wellington in 1882) at Wellington in 1909.
They had 2 sons & one daughter.
William started as blacksmith at Porirua & moved to Levin around 1908 to be a gardener. Around 1925 he became a linesman for the rest of his working life. For most of this time the family lived in Queenwood Rd.
Both he & Margaret are buried in Levin.
